Yes, some water filters reduce chlorine, but the exact product needs a verified claim for the disinfectant and operating conditions in your water supply.
The word carbon is not enough on its own. Two cartridges using similar media can have different certified claims, flow limits, capacities and maintenance requirements.
Are chlorine and chloramine the same filter claim?
No. Free chlorine and chloramine are different disinfectant residuals. A product verified for chlorine reduction should not be assumed to reduce chloramine unless its current certification or test evidence names that claim.
Monochloramine is used in some parts of South East Queensland, while supply sources and network operations can change. Ask the water provider that serves the address what applies locally rather than choosing a cartridge from a general Brisbane claim.

Why can chlorine taste return?

Do not use taste as a measurement of the remaining disinfectant. Record the installation date and follow the manufacturer's replacement, cleaning and sanitising instructions even when the water still tastes acceptable.
